A Love Letter To Whiskey: Fifth Anniversary Edition

Unexpected find. Oh, the angst... What a pleasant surprise.

I do not read just one book a week; usually, I will pick one or two light reads between the books I read to review. I choose these books as an in-between to break up my reading books and offer a breather, especially if I have just completed a heavy read.  Being that I am a quick reader, this gives me time to squeeze another book or two into my week.

I chose this one on an impulse, and boy was I surprised. This book was initially released back in 2019. I have no idea how I missed it; anyway, I am glad I picked it. I had to add this book as a "for review" book to the blog.

Oh, the angst. Let's start there. This story begins with the characters from childhood (teenagers); you got to follow them through on their journey, discovering who they are, the love they have for themselves, and eventually finding the love they have for each other.

It is one heck of a ride. Yes, there are the silly childhood mistakes (just say what you feel) that, without them making, would have solved many issues. Yes, there are the (eye-rolling) silly young adult misunderstandings (just say what you feel). With these mishaps and missed opportunities, this, however, all tied into telling the story. Did it get frustrating seeing them fumble? Oh goodness, yes. But, the coming together was "finally," and sweet and expected and anticipated. The waiting was over.

Not trying to say too much; I just encourage you to give the book a chance and take the journey. There will be moments that you have to roll with, but it all comes together in the end.   I loved the characters, and in the Fifth Anniversary edition, you get a bonus treat of another point of view added that will feel like a whole new story.

Do I recommend it? Yes!
